Ned lost his head - wasn't screwed on properly

Ned Kelly's body was exhumed from a mass grave and returned to his family to be buried more appropriately.

It was the armed robber's wish to be buried near his family and 132 years later this looks set to occur, although his head was stolen from a display case in Old Melbourne Gaol in 1978. Grim :{{ bleah!

In 1929, his remains were transferred to Pentridge Prison from Old Melbourne Gaol where he was executed in 1880, and he was again exhumed in 2009, when authorities were hunting for information about a serial killer also buried in the mass grave at Pentridge.

His ancestors are appealing for the return of his skull so that the Australian icon can finally find some peace.

By the way - sorry about the title, I couldn't resist putting in some old Australian colloquialisms in there, all things considered.

Of all the cruel and unusual punishments poor old Ned has had to endure, this has got to have been the worst - uhhhhh(shudders quietly), Mick Jagger's accent...
